Recently, UniLaSalle France was invited to become a member of the newly International Lasallian Advisory Research Group (ILARG). The first meeting, jointly organized by the International Lasallian Institute for Sustainability (Lewis University) and the Center for Urban Resilience and Environmental Sustainability (Manhattan College).took place on September 23, 2018, at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. On behalf of UniLaSalle France, Dr. Marie Asma Ben-Othmen, program director of MSc Urban Agriculture and Green Cities and Mr. Thomas HULL, head of International Relations (Rennes Campus) attended this first meeting.
This group is composed of Lasallian environmental and urban sustainability researchers from different Lasallian regions and countries. This first meeting was an opportunity to discuss and to assess, within a workshop session, the main research projects dealing with the sustainability in the urban environment already carried out in the Lasallian network. The main objective was to identify common grounds that would allow us to work together within one global project according to a systemic approach to study, analyze, produce new scientific knowledge, and answer the contemporary issues that our urban environment is facing today.
Healthy, sustainable and resilient cities seem to be the new dimension toward where every city should go. That’s why our collaborative future project will explore the relationship between the different components of sustainability such as urban agriculture, food waste management, energy efficiency, and public health in order to shape healthy cities. On this occasion, different Lasallian Universities were putted at one table in order to discuss the opportunity of writing an international and collaborative research proposal ( the Universidad DeLaSalle Bajío, Universidad LaSalle México, Christian Brother University Memphis, UniLaSalle France, and La Salle Campus Barcelona).
